Art - 8th Grade
Independent Projects / Activities:
Every quarter, students will be responsible for 5 independent projects/activities, which will each be worth ten points for a total of 50 points. These may be completed at home or in the classroom. Examples of independent projects may be doing a sketch, bringing in an art-related newspaper article, visiting a museum, sharing an activity with the class, or participating in classroom organization. Students may also be able to come up with other acceptable projects / activities. These projects are meant to help students; therefore, points will be given if a reasonable effort is made. Students are only expected to spend 30 minutes on each project / activity. Projects / activities are due on Wednesday of the eighth week of the grading period.
Sketch Assignments:
During each quarter, a weekly sketch assignment will be given until a total of five are completed. Sketches should reflect about 30 to 40 minutes of work and can be done in or outside of class. Sketches will be worth ten points each totaling 50 points.

- Receive 50% for a completed assignment.
- Receive 25% for following directions and/or demonstrating understanding of concept.
- Receive 15% effort.
- Receive 10% overall quality.
How sketches and independent projects are graded:
- Receive 100% for a completed assignment.
Classroom Rules
- Be in class on time.
- No liquid except occasional water unless arranged in advance.
- No eating in class unless arranged in advance.
- Classroom supplies and materials should not be damaged or wasted.
- Have a pencil every day.
- Have your assignments in class every day.
- Turn assignments in on time.
- Remain quiet when the teacher is giving directions.
- During work periods, students should be working on art related projects.
- Talking and getting out of your seat is permitted, but only when necessary. (e.g., asking a question, sharpening a pencil, washing hands, etc.)
- Treat everyone with respect.
